Lair of the Basilisk
You see the sliver of a crack in the dungeon wall, a sliver that usually meant one thing: a secret door. You start feeling the wall around the crack, looking for the switch, button, or lever that would spring the latch. You are rewarded as the wall moves out slightly, outlining the previously hidden door.
Ahead of you is a descending tunnel wide enough for two characters to walk down. You watch as the barbarian and the thief start sneaking down it. As you watch, they begin to pick up speed; the halfling is trying to turn around, but the floor seems to be coated in some slippery substance. The barbarian showed no sign of stopping, rushing headlong down the ramp. At least he was rushing until his flesh was turned to stone.
Above you, you hear the sounds of arrows and the laughter of goblins. Barrels of something start raining down on the party: you realize it is something akin to oil. The substance is slick enough to make the footing treacherous, but the worse threat is still coming. You see flaming arrows and spears coming out of the semi-darkness of the ceiling. As they hit, small fires start, driving you and the rest of the party down the ramp. Down the ramp and into the lair of the basilisk.
